We study the application of laser technology in the welding, hardening and texturing of aluminium and titanium alloys.

For the last 10 years, the group has been working on a line of research into the laser treatment of light alloys (aluminium and titanium), carrying out studies on the optimisation of welding processes and the re-melting of these alloys.

The microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the laser processed samples have been analyzed. Several scientific papers have been published.

Línea de investigación 01

Laser processing of metallic materials.

For the development of this line of research the group has two laser equipments:

The first of these is a ROFIN-SINAR diode laser model DL028S with a maximum power of 2.8 kW.

The main characteristic of this equipment is the size of the spot, which depending on the lens used can be up to 4.02mm2. This makes it especially useful in surface processing applications.

The second laser used in this line is a pulsed fiber laser (ytterbium-doped fibber laser) RofinEasymarkF20 with a maximum power of 20 W.
